Dana Diaz-Tutaan hails from Sydney and has an extensive opera and theatre background as well as a solid schooling in the world of hip hop. She’s toured with theatre companies and also other musical artists, including Xzibit, Michael Franti and Aceyalone. She’s also worked with fellow Sydney MCs Maya Jupiter and Trey. Despite no whole album to her name, Dana has an enviable discography, appearing on albums by The Infesticons, Mike Ladd and D.I.G.

MC and producer Raphael LaMotta, aka Ra the Seeker is an NYC lad born and bred, and definitely not your average hip hop head. Although raised on hip hop and street cyphers, Ra went indie punk in the 90s paying his musical dues in the band Vitapup, who released a few 7”s with labels such as Thrill Jockey and Mute. Vitapup were busy live performers and toured with the likes of Elliott Smith, Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney and Tortoise before disbanding. In the late 90s he morphed into a maverick MC/producer, met up with Dana and formed Apsci. Ra established friendships with artists like Mike Ladd and Tes gigging at venues like Nuyorican Poet’s Café and Baby Jupiter.

One of the most respected turntablists in NYC, and the working DJ for legendary Hip Hop label Def Jux, Big Wiz’s reputation precedes itself. You may see him DJing for Aesop Rock, C-Rayz, Walz or El-P (they recently opened for Gangstarr) or on the DJ battle circuit as half of the Steelworkerz with DJ Marz One. He appears on the new Shure Turntablism 101 video with the Beat Junkies, Mixmaster Mike and the X-ecutioners.
